Each month, here at Pinnacle Esports, we will be looking at the previous competitive month and selecting five players to be in our Dream Team. September featured the ESL Pro League Season 16, the Elisa Invitational, and CCT Central Europe Series #1. Due to the playoffs not being over at the time of writing, we are only using information from the group stage of ESL Pro League. There have been so many great individual performances seen in this Pro League season, which led to a lot of debate on who we would award spots to in September’s Pinnacle Esports Dream Team.
IGL – Casper "cadiaN" Møller
The IGL award goes to “cadiaN” for September. As both the IGL and AWPer of Heroic, we considered going for four spots and have him cover both roles. Instead, we opted to just stick with him for our IGL after a great showing from Heroic in Group C of EPL.
Heroic unexpectedly lost their first game to MOUZ but managed to recover and finish the group confidently with four wins. Memories of Season 13’s first-place finish must have been running through the head of “cadiaN” as he tied for top performer in his team with a 1.19 HLTV rating.
We know what he can do with an AWP but that didn’t stop him from securing 87 rifle kills across 12 maps. In terms of total kills, Heroic weren’t lacking a fragging IGL like some other teams, with “cadiaN” averaging 20 kills a map. This is a stat you rarely see from an IGL.
Honourable mentions: Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen and Christopher "dexter" Nong.
AWP – David "forsyy" Bílý
Our choice for AWP was between Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and our choice, “forsyy”. We are sure “ZywOo” will make a spot on our team in the future, but for this month we wanted to shed some light on a player who we see as having a lot of potential.
For those of you not familiar with “forsyy”, here’s the rundown. He is a 20-year-old AWPer who made the move from ENTERPRISE esports to SINNERS Esports at the beginning of this year. SINNERS are a team that primarily competes in the tier2 scene of CS:GO and has been home to the likes of Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný and Adam "NEOFRAG" Zouhar.
“forsyy” has had a vital role in SINNERS’ success at Elisa Invitational Fall 2022 and CCT Central Europe Series 2, averaging a 1.19 HLTV rating across September. We’ve been very impressed by “forsyy” and hope to see more of him as his carer progresses.
Honourable mentions: Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.
ENTRY FRAGGER – İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş
It is without a doubt that “XANTARES” is up there as one of the best players when talking about his mechanics. He is a player that has lived at the top of the HLTV stat pages ever since his time in Space Soldiers.
“XANTARES” continues to impress us, boasting an incredible 1.30 HLTV Rating in September. What’s particularly spectacular about this is his 1.31 HLTV rating at EPL, an event where Eternal Fire were only able to win five of the 11 maps they played. These numbers are up there with the likes of Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, who is also prone to put up high ratings when losing games. Aside from a disappointing result at EPL, Eternal Fire have secured first-place victories at ESA Supremes Fall, ESL Challenger Rotterdam European Closed Qualifier, and TWR Eastern European Masters. These wins have bagged them spots at ESL Challenger Rotterdam and BLAST Premier Fall Showdown.
Honourable mentions: Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.
SUPPORT – Timofey "interz" Yakushin
Cloud9 have been exciting contenders for championships for quite some time now, finally acquiring one at IEM Dallas where they denied FaZe Clan a shot at being even closer to the Intel Grand Slam. It is without a doubt that this team is scary to play against for any top team, especially when all their players come alive and that’s what has happened at EPL.
Not known for his high fragging stats, “interz” is a fantastic Support player who posts consistent KAST percentages. At EPL, “interz” had some amazing games and out-of-this-world clutches! If he can remain in this form, there is no doubt that Cloud9 can be a contender to win EPL Season 16.
Honourable mentions: Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson.
RIFLER – Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
There are so many good Riflers currently competing at the highest level of competition in CS:GO, so this became the hardest spot to award. FURIA’s “KSCERATO” has been a player on everyone’s radar ever since he began dropping 40+ and 50+ kill games in Brazil. As of late, FURIA have struggled to get the results that are expected of the team so Group D of EPL was a good test to see the level they are on after coming back from the player break.
They hit the ground running with wins over Eternal Fire, Movistar Riders, Team Liquid, and Evil Geniuses. The aggressive style of this team makes them exciting to watch and it gives “KSCERATO” a chance to show exactly how well he can play against some of the top teams. Coming through with a 1.41 HLTV rating and 1.51 Impact, this team just wouldn’t have the same kick without “KSCERATO”.
Honourable mentions: Aleksandar "CacaNito" Kjulukoski and David "frozen" Čerňanský.
