After more than a month of intense competition, the League of Legends Worlds 2024 tournament has reached its final chapter — the Grand Final. Held on November 2 at the O2 Arena in London, this ultimate showdown will feature the top team from the LPL, BLG, going head-to-head against the most legendary team in League of Legends history, T1.
Bilibili Gaming (BLG) analysis
BLG has shown impressive momentum since the knockout stage. In the semifinals, facing fellow LPL team Weibo Gaming (WBG), the team dominated both the draft phase and in-game strategy. Playing on the red side for all three games, BLG consistently secured Jax and Skarner for its first two picks, leveraging this powerful top and jungle duo, which are highly favored in the current meta. BLG’s top laner, Chen "Bin" Zebin, has proven himself a master of Jax, with none of his opponents thus far able to contain his impact on the top lane. The 3-0 sweep with similar team compositions also means their Grand Final opponents have limited insight into BLG’s ban/pick strategies, especially beyond Jax and Skarner for top and jungle. This lack of information could give BLG a tactical edge in the final.
BLG's mid laner, Zhuo "knight" Ding, has demonstrated remarkable versatility by playing seven different champions across seven games in the knockout stage, losing only one. This implies he has command over most of the meta’s strongest mid lane champions. He can excel with various playstyles, from mages like Syndra and tanks like Galio to assassins like Akali and even late-game carries like Smolder. His deep champion pool gives BLG tremendous flexibility in tactics and playstyle. Combined with the team’s strong teamfight coordination, this makes it challenging for opponents to gain an advantage, as BLG can adapt and counter diverse strategies effectively.
If BLG secures the victory at Worlds this year, it would make history as the first team with an all-Chinese roster to claim the title. This achievement would be monumental for Chinese fans.
T1 analysis
Few could have predicted T1's journey to the Worlds final as a fourth seed, especially after its near-miss in qualification. However, T1 has visibly improved since entering Worlds. It holds a Bo1 victory over BLG from the Swiss stage and recently ended a losing streak against its biggest LCK rival, Gen.G, by defeating it in the semifinals, marking a significant comeback since MSI 2023.
Despite BLG’s top laner, Chen "Bin" Zebin, performing exceptionally well with Jax, T1’s top laner, Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, has been known to counter Jax with Gragas. Support player Ryu "Keria" Min-seok also adds versatility by prioritizing roaming champions like Pyke, which secures vision control and early game leads rather than sticking solely to the meta's tank supports. This approach could pressure BLG to adapt its draft strategy.
Legendary mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok is also a rare Ahri specialist at this tournament, while AD carry Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyung has consistently stood out in teamfights. With T1’s "Worlds buff" in effect, Faker is on a quest for his fifth trophy. A win here would make T1 the first team to claim back-to-back Worlds titles with the same roster, cementing its legacy in LoL history.
Best Bets
With T1's recent surge in the knockout stage, it's hard to bet against this team a slight favorite over BLG, priced at 1.775* on the Money Line, as it aims for Faker's fifth trophy. Additionally, Under 4.5 maps at 1.350* is a solid pick, given that five out of six series in this year’s Worlds knockout stage have concluded in under 4.5 maps.
